Adding your first simulator

Updated over 3 months ago

Requirements

Project workspace

Simulators live inside a project. If you haven’t made one yet, head to the top right corner, click over your avatar and select New Project.

Protocol choice

Decide which standard (OCPP 1.6, OCPP 2.0.1, OCPP 2.1) you want this simulator to speak (and, of course, your CSMS should support it too).

CSMS Endpoint

The simulator can't live without the management system, so you need to ask your DEV team about the endpoint which you will configure for the first simulator.

Tip: Not sure which protocol or model you need? Start with Generic AC 22 kW / OCPP 1.6 — it works for 90 % of first-time tests and you can edit it later

Steps

System creation

  1. Navigate to Systems section

  2. Create the new system (please, enter your endpoint URI). For example: wss://my-server.com/ocpp . That means, that the connection URI for the simulator with the name SIM-NAME will be: wss://my-server.com/ocpp/SIM-NAME

Simulator Model creation

  1. Navigate to Models section

  2. Create the new simulator model - the analog for the real model. Feel free to use the real specifications or be creative to create your own one. For example: ABB Terra 54. In that case I will do the following:

Tip: Use Default Configurations, so you don't need to dive into details now

Simulator creation

  1. Navigate to Simulators section

  2. Create the new simulator - the analog for the real charger. Please, choose the model that you've created before & configurate the simulator.

    1. Simulator Name means its ID for the CSMS. Please, do not forget to add it to your system, if you have the whitelist on your CSMS

    2. System Name refers to the System, that we've already created

    3. Number Of Simulators allows you to multiple simulators creation with just one click. But for the first time, I suggest to create the only 1 simulator.

  3. Select the default configuration and push the Create Simulator button

Cool! Now you know how to setup the environment & create the first simulator.
