Testing Real Chargers

Connecting real EV chargers, simulating a backend, and running tests in TimeTick.

1. Create a Virtual Backend and Connect Your Charger

  • Go to SystemsAdd New System → select Timetick Device Manager (virtual backend) → enter any System Name.

  • Copy the backend address and use it to configure your charger.

2. Add a Model

  • Go to the Models page.

  • If your charger model is not listed, add it manually.

3. Add the Charger

  • Go to HardwareAdd Hardware → select OCPP 1.6 → choose your Model from the list.

  • Enter your charger’s Serial Number.

  • Select the corresponding System Name.

  • IMSI and ICCID fields are optional.

4. Verify Charger Connection

  • Go to the Hardware page and open the charger you added.

  • In the Logs tab, you should see confirmation that the charger is active.

  • You can also press the Run button to send individual commands.

5. Create Test Scenarios

  • Go to the Tests tab → click Add Test.

  • Select a charger in the Requirements field.

  • Add steps in the Steps field, e.g.: Power On Charger → Plug In Connector → Charge a Vehicle → Plug Out Connector → Power Off Charger.

  • Save and execute → review results in the Runs tab.

6. Run Tests

  • Go to the Tests tab and press the Run button → select the charger in the Requirements field.

  • Review the test history in the Runs tab.
